Vietnam, Belgium & More Among 10 Non-English-Language Global Chart Debuts

It’s an especially diverse week on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, with an impressive showing of 10 non-English-language debuts spanning seven distinct languages.
Especially notable, Sơn Tùng M-TP’s “Muộn Rồi Mà Sao Còn,” new at No. 126, is the first song in Vietnamese and the first by an act from Vietnam to impact either of Billboard‘s global charts since they launched in September. The song enters with 23.6 million streams and 1,500 downloads sold outside the U.S in the week ending May 6, according to MRC Data. The May 15-dated chart reflects the song’s first week of sales availability, after it logged one day of streaming activity in the previous tracking week.
The song’s release was accompanied by its official music video, as it scored 23.1 million video streams, or 98% of its overall streaming total, via video services. The playfully trippy visual, almost entirely made up of shots of M-TP in just slightly head-scratching settings, claims the week’s highest share of video streams, with a comparatively low count of 423,000 audio streams.
The only title with a higher count of total video streams on this week’s chart is iTZY’s “In the Morning,” debuting at No. 22, while also starting No. 34 on the Billboard Global 200. The South Korean group’s song scored 26.1 million streams via video services and a total of 36.2 million streams outside the U.S. “Morning” opens the group’s new EP, Guess Who.
While “Morning” is one of this week’s 10 non-primarily-English Global Excl. U.S. chart debuts, it’s one of two that include English vocals as a secondary language. iTZY’s track combines Korean and English lyrics, while “Bzrp Music Sessions #39” by Bizarrap (from Argentina) and Snow Tha Product (U.S.) launches at No. 147 with a combination of Spanish and English.
Three more Latin tracks debut, as Argentina’s TINI and Maria Becerra enter at No. 62 with the Spanish-language “Miénteme,” while “Bipolar” by MC Don Juan, MC Davi and MC Pedrinho and “Tipo Gin (Ao Vivo)” by MC Kevin O Chris, with both songs in Portuguese and all acts from Brazil, start at Nos. 99 and 172, respectively.
Japan sports two debuts on this week’s Global Excl. U.S. survey, as Ado’s “Odo” enters at No. 52 and Fujii Kaze’s “Kirari” begins at No. 77. Though it’s the first chart entry for Kaze, “Odo” gives Ado his third simultaneously charting hit. “Usseewa” jumps 83-60 after peaking at No. 16 in February, while “Gira Gira” lifts 172-156, approaching its No. 152 peak in March.
Finally, two Euro-centric tracks arrive by acts returning to the Global Excl. U.S. chart. Damso debuts at No. 148 with the French-language “Σ. Morose.” The Belgian-Congolese rapper returns after landing three songs on the Oct. 3, 2020-dated chart, the highest of which was “Deux Toiles De Mer.” Plus, Cro and Capital Bra, both from Germany, enter at No. 165 with “Blessed,” the second chart entry for Capital Bra.
